Junior School Alternative Program Day

Thursday 16th May

As part of the Year 7 & Year 8 Alternate Program Day, students will enjoy 'Sticks & Stones', which is a live theatre experience by Brainstorm Productions! The performance will explore different forms of bullying and aggression, and encourages respect, assertiveness and conflict resolution at school, at home and online. Students are challenged to consider the impact of their behaviour and develop strategies for managing emotions, seeking help and building respectful relationships.

Year 7 & Year 8 students will be permitted to wear free dress so that they may participate fully in the alternative program design.

The 'Hot-chip lunch' competition is still running

The chips are delicious! Just like last term, the class with the least Out of Class Notifications will be receiving this tasty prize!

Year 7 HPV and DTPa Vaccine

The Manningham Council’s Immunisation team will be visiting Doncaster Secondary College to administer the HPV and DTPa vaccine to year 7 students on Wednesday 8 May in period 1.

Managing Me

A friendly reminder that families need to be having a weekly conversation with their child about the work they have covered in Managing Me. A parent/guardian then needs to sign the Managing Me Conversation Log located at the back of their child's Student Planner.

Attendance Matters

Do you know that those DSC students in 2023 who achieved an ATAR of 97 and above all had attendance rates of 92%+?

There is a correlation between students’ attendance rates at school and academic performance!

Those students with minimal absences have been linked to:

  • higher academic performance, particularly numeracy
  • less likely to leave school early
  • less likely to feel social isolation from school community and peers
  • leaving school with more qualifications
  • increased opportunities for students to learn and access educational resources, further increasing employment prospects
  • decreased likelihood of absenteeism in higher year levels
  • decreased alcohol, tobacco, and substance use in adolescents
  • decreased likelihood of requiring social assistance

Uniform Reminder

As the cooler months arrive, we are noticing more students wearing long sleeve undergarments that are visible and are not part of the uniform list. We remind students of the following:

  • T-shirts, if worn under the college uniform, must be white and must not be visible.
  • Students may choose to wear the complete summer OR the complete winter uniform throughout the year, but a mix of winter and summer options is not permitted.
  • In instances when students cannot comply with the College uniform requirements, a note must be provided by a parent/guardian and presented to the Junior School office prior to the start of the day in order for a Uniform Pass to be issued.
