Dear parents and friends
Welcome to week four of the School Term. There are lots of things taking place at school in the coming days. Please see below and attached. I hope all of our mums have a wonderful day on Sunday and that you are spoilt by your familes.
On Wednesday all students had an opportunity to purchase a gift for mum from our Mothers' Day Stall. Students always get very excited about this. Thanks to our Parents' Association and Tracey for once again organising this event.
We are hoping too see many of our wonderful mums at the afternoon tea tomorrow. This will run from 3:30-4:30pm after our weekly assembly. Come along and enjoy some time with other mums and children.
Tomorrow morning all students will take part in a mass at St. Christopher's church at 9:15am. The mass will be to celebrate and thank all mothers for being such beautiful people and for looking after our children. All parents are welcome to attend. A special invitation to all the mums.
Our school will host a Scholastic Bookfair from 20 - 22 May. The purpose of the book fair is to promote an interest in reading books, allow students to purchase books as well as gain resources for the school. Next Friday 17 May, students will have an opportunity to view the books. Then from the 20 - 22 May, their will be three opportunites for students and parents to purchase and order books. Further details, as well as a pre-payment form, will be sent home next week.
Our annual Book Fair Parade will take place on Friday 24 May, 9:10am in the school hall. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Each class will parade in front of the school. This day is normally lots of fun so we hope all students join in and dress up.
Harry Li (Year 1) attended an inter-school Chess Tournament recently at Doncaster Gardens Primary School. He scored 5.5 points out of 7 rounds and was ranked 1st place in the Prep to Year 2 group, and 4th place overall. An amazing effort. Well done Harry!!
Assembly will take place tomorrow in the school hall at 3pm. Our 1/2 A class will be hosting this assembly. All welcome.
Students are encouraged to walk safely to school tomorrow with their parents or carers. This is a national initiative that aims to promote road safety, physical activity and reduce traffic congestion. Given the road works taking place near school soon, it might be a good idea to walk to school regularly if possible. Until they are ten years old, children should hold an adults hand when crossing the road.
Reminder - M76 Mount Waverley Water main Renewal project on High Street Road. This project will soon be working across the Blackburn Road intersection (expected to commence 10 May).
The works will directly impact how many staff/parents access our school. There will be no right hand turn around the intersection, lane access along the work area will be limited to one lane each way in each direction. Pedestrians will be able to safely cross from a temporary cross over at Elm Grove and at Hunters Street respectively. Please consider
allowing extra time to travel to school.
Students who use the bus will also be impacted as the following stops will be closing soon:
Route 734: Blackburn High Street Road (both ways)
Route 703: Doone Ave/Blackburn Road ( to Blackburn Station)
There will be traffic management on site to assist pedestrians and motorists to navigate the area.
If you have any concerns regarding your child's learning or wellbeing, please contact their teacher or myself.
Regards
