Art Creative Practice Excursion

By Ms Sarroff

Students undertaking Unit 3 VCE Art Creative Practice enjoyed attending the National Gallery Victoria, Ian Potter at Federation Square. We visited Top Arts, a showcase of outstanding student artworks from the 2023 VCE cohort. During our visit, we had a special booking to view Top Arts student folios to gain insight into the exhibitors’ art making processes. Student folios contain extensive documentation from initial concept ideation through to artwork completion. We learned about methods of organisation, documentation, and the communication of ideas. The visit extended to a tour through the other galleries that included 19th – 21st Century Australian art. Two of which, were dedicated to First Nations artists.

The National Gallery of Victoria is free to the public with rotating exhibitions. The galleries are educational, inspirational, and present thought-provoking ideas, entertainment and experiences to audiences. Students and families are encouraged to visit the NGV during weekends and/or the holiday period.
