News from Foundation

Wow the first three weeks of term have gone so quickly here in Foundation! We have been working so hard to learn many great things and improve on many of our already developed skills!

Writing

Last week in Foundation, we started something new!! We started writing sentences and learning the things that go into a sentence! Together as a class we look at a picture as a writing prompt and co-design a sentence to match the picture. They then write the sentence into their books! Here we are writing in our books with our special 'Quiet Critters', they help us stay focused when writing, but if they hear a sound they scurry back to their box.

We have posted lots of our writing on See-Saw so make sure you check it out on there!

Literacy Games

The Foundations love learning in a range different ways! One of those ways is by playing some games that help consolidate their learning. Any of these games are excellent games to play or make at home. One game they absolutely love is sound bingo. They pick 9 different sounds and we spin a wheel of sounds until all of their sounds have been called out. They love yelling BINGO, sometimes this happens when they haven't crossed off all the sounds 😂!! Here are another few games we play: Fishing for letters/sound game, rolling a sound, KABOOM (picking up sound sticks, you have to put them all back if you pick up KABOOM and word games)

Show and Tell

Every Wednesday we have Show and Tell in the Foundation classroom. They can bring whatever they like to show the rest of the class. When it is their turn for Show and Tell, they follow a formal routine. Firstly they start with a greeting "Good Afternoon everyone", the students on the mat say "Good Afternoon (insert name)". They then talk about and describe their show and tell. We then have some question time! The favourite question that is most frequent is "Do you like it" and "Where did you get it from" 🤣 At the end of the presentation the student presenting will say "Thanks for listening everyone". Everyone on the mat says "Thanks for your news (insert name)". Here are some photos of Show and Tell this week, Mrs Morrisey ran this as Mrs B was away.
