Canteen Corner

HELP NEEDED!!
Our canteen is in desperate need for volunteers.
What does a canteen volunteer do?
Easy tasks like:
- Cutting up fruit
- Making sandwiches and wraps
- Preparing “heat and eat” foods (sausage rolls, chicken wedges, etc)
- Wash the dishes – we’re kidding! We have a commercial dishwasher that does that
- Refill the drinks fridge
- Put lunch order stickers on paper bags
- Hand hot food to the students
- Sweep the floor
You do not have to handle money – sometimes volunteers are discouraged by the thought they might have to add up prices or calculate change – our canteen staff have that part covered so you don’t need to worry about it.
If you would like to volunteer, please follow this link to start the registration process. https://www.mn.catholic.org.au/people/volunteer/
Under the updated Food Safety Laws that are coming into effect in school canteens in December 2024, we do require our volunteers to complete the FREE Food Handler Basics training. It takes approximately one hour and you end up with a certificate to print for yourself or email to us to print. Please follow this link for further information.

A full day of volunteering in the canteen is 9am – 2pm and we provide you lunch. However, if you only have a few hours, we would still appreciate any assistance you could give. We have two staff members working each day and we’d be happy to show you the ropes.
