Year Two Team News

with Steph, Joel K and Georgia

Hello Year Two families,

It is hard to believe that we are past the halfway mark of what has been an extremely busy and exciting term so far, yet there remains so much to still look forward to!

Next Friday will be our dress up day for Book Week, we look forward to seeing the excitement it will create in our classrooms. No doubt our students will enjoy dressing up as a favourite book character and discussing these book characters with their friends. We look forward to the excitement of the day inspiring our students to celebrate the books they already love whilst also getting ideas for new books that they haven’t yet read.

Last week our Grade 2 Sleepover notes were sent home with our students, it was terrific to see the excitement that is building among our students as they look forward to the night. To assist us with preparation for the Grade 2 Sleepover, please try and return your child’s food preference form and medical forms as soon as possible. If you have any questions about the information that has been sent out, please see your child’s classroom teacher.

 Important news:

  •  Grade 2 Sleepover: As stated above, please try and return your child’s food preference form and medical forms as soon as possible
  • Book week Parade: This will take place at 9:15am on Friday 25th of August.

Curriculum Focus: Weeks 7 and 8

Literacy: In Reading, we will be working on summarising and visualising the texts that we are reading.

In Writing, we will be continuing to develop our persuasive writing with a focus on using powerful words to strengthen our opinion and beginning to plan our narratives writing.

Numeracy: We will be working on data and how to represent data using graphs.

Inquiry:We will be continuing to learn about toys from the past and discuss how toys have changed over time. Using the things we have learnt so far this term, we will begin to create our own play experiences.

Willy Kids: Through the pillar of Resilience, we are learning about perseverance and how it helps us with both our learning at school and many other aspects of our everyday lives.
