Alumni visit GEC

To finish off Term 3, GEC students were lucky enough to learn from four different alumni!

The Year 8 and 9 cohorts had a special visit from Alysha Lowrey (class of 2017)Elana Hain (class of 2015) and Brian Peters (class of 1980). These alumni spoke to the students about their time at GEC, subject selection, work experience, what it is like to go to uni and their current careers.

Alysha shared her unique work in design and animation with Australian YouTuber 'Jazza'.

Elana spoke about her study in exercise science and how she remained persistent to find ways to achieve her dream career of being a physiotherapist!

Brian explained his VCE experience, where he failed the first time around and then returned as a mature age student to try again. He is now the CEO of a superannuation company.

Thank you so much to these three alumni for sharing positive messages to GEC’s year 8 and 9 students and encouraging them to achieve their goals both during and after school.

Morgan Edwards (class of 2018) also reconnected with GEC and her old Legal Studies teacher this term. Morgan spoke to Year 11 and 12 Legal Studies students about where the subject can take you in terms of studying or working in law, as well as some advice for conquering SACS and exams in this subject.

Across both sessions, the students asked engaging questions and left with uplifting messages of inspiration.

Thank you so much to these alumni for helping current students tackle the challenges that come with high-school and inspiring them to strive for success and enjoyment after school.
