We are learning to synthesise new information that is acquired in fiction and nonfiction texts.


VOCABULARY

Synthesise: Combine different ideas or information as they read, to form one idea or thought. How their thinking changes or is confirmed as they read due to new information or events. 

 

Acquired: To gather or gain new information. 

 

 


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Read a fiction or nonfiction  text with your child and ask them to identify the significant events or main ideas within the text. Get them to make predictions, ask questions and infer as they read. Ask them if their thinking has been confirmed or changed as they read.
