Armidale Diocesan Athletics Carnival

On Friday the 18th August the selected students from our schools Athletics carnival travelled to Tamworth for the Armidale Diocesan Athletics Carnival.

SMOTA students should be proud of their sporting commitment and level of dedication leading up to the Carnival, training twice a week with the help of Jon Welsh and Mandy Newberry preparing the students for their selected events.

We thank you for giving up your time and the commitment to coaching the students.

All Students did so well and represented the school with great sportsmanship.

Flynn McFarlane, Hugo Sisson, Christopher Welsh and Scarlett Newberry will represent the Armidale Diocese at the 2023 Polding Athletics Championships in Sydney this October with Flynn receiving 1st in the 1500m, 1st 800m and 3rd 200m and over all runner up Jnr Boy Champion. Hugo came in 3rd 1500m and 1st 100m. Christopher came in 3rd 100m and Scarlett 3rd in Long Jump.

Heidi Hardaker our CSO's sports coordinator said "There is so much to be grateful for; the wonderful community spirit and epic Catholic Learning Community that our larger sporting event creates is unbeatable. The enthusiastic buzz was humming even with a chilly wind and undesirable weather. With 550 students in attendance, some students smashing personal bests, lots of smiling faces and a few Diocesan records too. It was a very successful carnival"

Congratulations to all of our sporties for giving it everything they had to represent our school. Well done all round.

And a big 'Thank you' to all parents for supporting your children and transporting them to their school commitments.

House Colours

St Mary of the Angels have 3 school house colours. We encourage our students to wear these on the day of the swimming carnival (as well as all future sport events), alternatively, sports uniform can be worn. In 2023 the school house colours are:

McAuley - RED

Mercy - BLUE

Mackillop - YELLOW (previously green however this has been changed as of 2023 to not clash with the school uniform)

Please see list below with the school house colour that your child/ren are in:

McAuley - RED

Mercy - BLUE

Mackillop - YELLOW
