Technologies and HASS News

This semester Years 1 and 2 students are focussing on Geography in HASS. Year 1 students have been learning about the different seasons and weather around the world and they are now looking at natural, built, and managed features of the environment.

Recently we watched the Aboriginal Dreamtime story of Tiddalik the Frog and the children loved acting out the story using masks. They are also producing a piece of Artwork with a voice recording of the story using the Pages app in their Digital Technologies lessons.

Year 2 students have been learning about the continents and oceans in HASS and have been designing a world cruise to visit a port in each continent of the world. They have been using atlases and maps to locate places, and the internet to find out facts about the places their virtual cruise will visit.

In Technologies the focus for this semester is Digital Technologies. Year 1 students have learnt about the differences between hardware and software and have honed their photography skills by creating a photo collage on iPads.

Year 2 students have been learning about algorithms and created flowcharts on the Pages app to illustrate the algorithm of how to make a sandwich. They are now practising their coding skills using BeeBots.
