Room 10 has had a brilliant Term 3.
Earlier this term we were fortunate enough to have Bunnings come in and visit us. We enjoyed working collaboratively to construct toolboxes. We think they turned out great!
In Technologies, we have been working hard on our latest project ‘Our New Playground’. We must design an innovative piece of playground equipment that will encourage children to play outside. Before designing we had to do some research on the current play equipment we have at school. Here we are measuring the playground and looking at the equipment features.
We have been given an exciting opportunity to be involved in an art project. This will be displayed in Kings Park for a light festival in October. We will be creating a sculpture using a milk bottle. We had a lot of fun getting it ready to sculpt!
We recently had Pirate Day. We loved coming to school dressed as pirates to support a very important cause.
Students in Room 21 were fortunate to receive a visit from Minister Buti who is our Minister for Education and Dr Jags Krishnan MLA. Our VIPs enjoyed speaking with the students and seeing all of their hard work on display.
Mrs Clark arranged for our class to make artwork to be included in Boorna Waanginy! The students are looking forward to seeing their artwork on display in Kings Park later this year.
Early this term swimming lessons went “swimmingly.” Both our swimming and organisational skills improved.
Room 26 joined Room 10 to present our assembly “From Little Things, Big Things Grow”. We researched and wrote about things that started small and led to big changes, proudly sharing our discoveries with each other and the whole school community. We would like to thank the parents who came to the assembly and our open classroom.
A big thank you too, to Mrs Clarke, who assisted us in making our small sculptures from recycled milk bottles which will contribute to a bigger light sculpture at Kings Park as part of Boorna Waanginy 2023.
Our classroom is busy and sometimes very messy as we work on our technology project. We are combining our artistic talents, problem-solving skills, and technology know-how to create a movie from scratch.
In Maths, we are planning and timetabling journeys, using our mapping skills to locate landmarks and find our way, and reviewing our skills in measurement. We enjoyed playing money battleships to practise ordered pairs.
The colourfully dressed Pirates of Room 26 helped raise money for an important cause.
It has been a busy Term 3 for Room 28. We have had some very exciting events and learning experiences to talk about.
Build a Ride STEM Challenge
While Mrs Stone was away, we completed a STEM Challenge with Mrs Robinson. We were tasked with creating our own theme park ride. We worked in groups, planning, building, and evaluating our rides. It was so much fun.
Josh Langley Incursion
We were lucky to have Josh Langley come to the school and teach us all about positive thinking. It was so exciting to meet Josh Langley, especially as we have enjoyed reading his books and watching his videos throughout the year. We were a bit star-struck and many of us were even able to ask him for his autograph.
Bunnings Incursion
We also had some wonderful people from Bunnings come to school and help us build tool boxes which made excellent gifts for Father’s Day. We found some parts tricky, but with determination and teamwork, we were able to build wonderful boxes. Thank you so much Mrs Richardson for organising this for us.
Fun with Fractions
In Maths this term, we have been learning all about fractions. In one activity, we had to work as a group to place a lot of different fractions on a number line. This was so much fun and quite challenging. After we had finished, we were able to walk around the room, looking at the other group’s work, allowing us to make changes to our number lines if we thought we needed to. It was a great learning experience.
