From the   Principal's

Desk

Janine Kinninment

I would like to thank the Minster of Education Tony Buti, Dr Jags MP for Riverton, and our Board Chair Mr Bradley Warburton for their time on Tuesday visiting Burrendah Primary School. While Minister Buti visited a number of classrooms, he also took the time to view our administration building. Our administration building was built nearly 50 years ago. Burrendah is keen for our school to be considered for an administration build when funding becomes available. Minister Buti also made my day extra special by presenting me with flowers to celebrate my upcoming retirement.

School Board

Parent Representative nominations for the School Board will be called for in the first week of Term 4. I encourage parents/carers to consider nominating for our Board.  Brad Warburton, Board Chair is happy to speak to anyone wanting more information regarding the Board.  He can be contacted by phoning our School Reception for his contact details on 9266 6200. Our Board recently met in the school hall. Meetings are held either online or at school from 6:00pm on a Wednesday, twice per term.  The next meeting is online on the 1st November.

Maintenance

Our junior playground has had the limestone edging completed.  This edging also serves as supplementary seating near Room 25. Additional sand will be placed in the playground during the vacation break and the sandpit cleaned. This will mean the playground will reopen at the beginning of Term 4.

Our Nature Playground now has the additional shade sails installed just in time for our spring and summer months.

Professional photos

We have a photographer at school next Monday 11th September to take photos of Burrendah PS. Photos will be used on our school website and school materials such as our Annual Report and Schools Online. I encourage students to wear the full school uniform on this day.  We are also keen to have parents/carers in photographs. If you do not want to be in a photograph, please see Mr Bradshaw who will be accompanying the photographer on the day. Only students with photo permission will be considered to be included in photos.

Athletics Carnivals

Next week we will have a number of events for our Athletics carnivals.  Please ensure you check messages on Connect for more information. The P & C are running a cake stall on both Thursday 14th September and Friday 15th September. Donations will be greatly received. Please see more information on the P & C page in this newsletter.  Students have been practising all term for these carnivals. We look forward to as many parent/carers as possible attending to cheer their child(ren) on in their events.

Interschool Cross Country

Congratulations to our students who competed in the Interschool Cross Country.  It was wonderful to hear sportsmanship was always displayed.  Unfortunately, I was unwell on the day and couldn’t attend.  Mrs Lindley cheered loud enough for the both of us. Well done to the students who received a medal. Thank you to Mr Ellis who coordinated the interschool cross country event.  Our students were well prepared from all of the coaching by Mr Turner. Thank you also to the parents who put up the marquee and were there to cheer on their child/ren. I’m told the new banner and interschool sports uniform looked great.  Please see further in the Newsletter for more information.
