BOOK WEEK!!

One of the busiest but also one of the best weeks of the year for any school is Book Week! We had such an amazing time so there are plenty of things to unpack!

Welcoming Authors

We were very fortunate to have two brilliant authors visit our school last week, Caz Goodwin and Damian Callinan!

Caz Goodwin writes beautiful stories such as Lazy Daisy and Little Matilda. Her website can be found here.  Caz spoke to our junior school about her books and what it means to be an author.

She also brought in a special visitor, Little Matilda the Giant Kitten, who our students absolutely adored. Funnily enough though we could not find Mrs Kirkham while Matilda was in the classroom...

Damian Callinan is an actor and comedian who has recently released his first book called Weird School. His website can be found here.

Damian had our students and staff in Year 3 to 6 in absolute stitches for the entiretiy of his talk. He spoke about his novel but also helped students try and select the topic for his next book. The Day St Anthony's Students Kicked Footballs at Zombies was a popular selection!

We were so lucky to have these two wonderful guests at our school. We will be adding many of their titles to our school library for our students to enjoy.

You have to be in it to win it!

We hosted two fantastic competitions during Book Week and loved handing out some prizes at the end! We ran a colouring competition and a character design competition! Well done to all our finalists and winners, but truly all students who participated and put some entries in!

Colouring Competition Finalists:

Charlie M and Jacqui

Winner:

Sophie S!

Character Competition Finalists:

Anna and Anakin

Winner:

Alyx!

Throw a Parade!

The most exciting part of Book Week is often our finale, and what a finale it was with our Costume Parade! We were blown away by the brilliant and exciting costumes on display.

We had sports stars, characters from the Maze Runner, Superheroes, princesses, firemen, Wimpy Kids and so much more! Even a calculator!

We loved that some younger siblings also got in on the spirit! Our teachers enjoyed dressing up too, Mr Butler took his magic carpet to school and Mrs Carlei was looking at the puppies in a bit of a menacing way...

What a day! What a week!

We thank all our beautiful students and their families for their involvement. Reading can be such a fun and joyous thing, we are always happy to have a reason to celebrate it!

Take care,
