Principal's Report

Rhythm Nation Performs
Gardenvale has its very own Year 3 to 6 dance troupe ‘Rhythm Nation’. We are very grateful to one of our staff members, Casey Galinsky, for providing this opportunity for our dancers and for her work as their choreographer. All in attendance at yesterday’s Senior Campus assembly absolutely loved their first performance in front of an audience.
Prep and Year 4 Working Bee
On Sunday our supportive school community came to the fore at our Prep and Year 4 Working Bee. The weather was perfect for working outside! We were so pleased we were able to complete our long list of jobs. As has been said on many occasions working bees are great places for our community members to work together to achieve great things. A big thank you to Richard Fearons for bringing along a team of willing workers and equipment from his business to transform the front of the Junior Campus. Both Campuses looked amazing after 2 hours of cleaning, blowing, mowing, digging, weeding, whipper snippering, mulching and pruning.
Thank you very much to the following school community members, staff members and families for helping to make our Senior Campus look extra neat and tidy: Tammy and Steven Aronowicz, Chloe Ashlakoff, Chloe Billows, Josh Chia, Clarke Family, Natalie Anker Cohen, Kylie Clay, Camilla Dessau, Richard Fearons, Michal Finch, Adam Fletcher, Debbie Hack, Peter Hall, Mick Hennig, Lauren Jackson, Rachel and Ben Jackson, Charlie Jiang, Michael Joffe, Johns Family, Kaka Family, Aviv Kirshenbaum, David Korenko, Rusty Leckonby, Brett Liddell, Hugh Maguire, Fairlie Mahemoff, Lev Margolin, Elizabeth Mathieson, Manjari Mehta, Daniel Molnar, Stef Perkovic, Clea and Rowena Pereira, Anna Phelps, Tania and Mark Pointer, Debbie Powell, Julie Pitts, Jen and Marc Robinson, Theresa Scott, Spears Family, Carly and Simon Stainmagen, Alana Stewart, Meng Tan, Tyler Trevaskis, Matt Tuminello, Jenna and Michael Vardi and Chris Yianni.
Sincere apologies if your name is not on this list but we appreciate your help all the same! We also thank the many children that pitched in and helped.
Our Year 3 Working Bee will be held on Sunday 22nd October.
District Athletics
Tomorrow 74 of our Year 4, 5 and 6 students will compete in the Bayside District Athletics Competition at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve. I am sure our students will try their very best and represent themselves and our school with enthusiasm and pride. Go Gardenvale!!
Book Week Parade
A reminder on Friday 25th August, Gardenvale PS will celebrate 2023 Children's Book Week with a whole-school Book Parade. The parade will be held at the Senior Campus under the COLA at 9:15am and parents are invited to attend. The theme is 'Read, Grow, Inspire'. Children are welcome to dress as their favourite character or book cover or something that inspires them.
Choir
We wish our Year 3 and Senior Choirs all the best for their concerts tonight, in the Hall at the Junior Campus. The Year 3 Choir will be on first at 5pm, followed by the Senior Choir at 6pm.
Have a good week,
Janine
