Principal's Update

Caring Learning Growing: Every Child Every Day

Congratulations

At last, we have been able to announce Mrs Chesterfield as the new principal for SMJ beginning in 2024. Louise's appointment brings a sense of relief for all of us, knowing that our school will continue to work and provide the same level of care to learning, teaching and wellbeing that we have become known for. Louise and I work so closely together that the handover will be seamless.

I wish Louise all the best as she steps up into her new role next year, and know that she will have the support of all the staff and school community.

Father's Day

A very happy Father's Day to all our Dads and Special Friends this Sunday. While the day is the perfect opportunity for families to gather and celebrate the important men in their lives.

Research shows that quality time with dads and father figures contributes to emotional well-being, improves learning and academic results, boosts self-esteem, and even enhances cognitive development. It's not just about being present; it's about being present with purpose. It doesn't matter how old your child is, whether they are a toddler or a teen – quality time is important to them.

Being a dad is a journey, and “10 More Minutes” is a reminder this Father's Day that every minute counts.

Check out the DAD DATE Tip Sheet from the Fathering Project for some simple but great ideas for ways to spend some quality time with your children.

Moving On?

Planning for 2024 is well underway, and you can assist us by notifying us if your family intends to move on next year. We understand that you may have plans that are not finalised; however, your intentions are important in assisting us in our forward planning for next year.

Children Travelling on Bus - Notification Please

We ask that you contact the Office directly if there are changes to your child's travel arrangements. Some parents are sending messages via SeeSaw, which may not be seen in time for changes to the bus list to be conveyed to the Office. Either call Jane on the school number 5382 3000 or email office@smjhorsham.catholic.edu.au

Have a great weekend, and may your football or netball team enjoy success as we head into the finals.

Yours respectfully in Christ
