Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are over halfway through this term and it has been a busy and exciting one for our college community.

Some of the activities and events that have occurred already this term include, but are not limited to:

  • Year 11 and 12 exams running for all students undertaking a scored VCE learning program
  • Celebration days for our Year 11 VCE VM cohort to recognise the end of their year of learning which saw the group head out for a fun-filled day of go karting and laser tag
  • Celebrating the festival of Diwali with an assembly, lunchtime activities and food and an afternoon of activities for our Year 7 students
  • Commencement of our Headstart classes for our 2024 VCE and VCE VM students which will see our Year 12s have two weeks of classes to set up for 2024, whilst our Year 11s will have one week
  • Groups of staff working on our 2024 Year 7 curriculum with educational consultant Dr Esther Weichert as we start our work on reimagining what learning can look like in the classroom

In addition to this, I have provided below a range of updates on key events for Term 4.

Capital Works and Facilities Improvement

We are currently in the process of engaging with our appointed architects, Brand Architects, to develop the masterplan for the school.  This masterplan will plan for a reimagined footprint for the college, including consideration for how we can create 21st Century learning spaces our students and staff deserve.

This process involved the running of both student and staff consultation groups over the past two weeks.  These sessions, facilitated by the architects, provided the important opportunity for students and staff to have their voices heard about parts of the school that were great and able to be used effectively, as well as areas that needed to be targeted to improve.

The first stage of works that is planned for is the upgrade of the Gym, Performing Arts and Food Technology facilities to enable us to have a high-quality resource not only for the school, but also for the wider community.

End of Year Celebrations – Valedictory and Awards Night

On Friday 17th November, the college held its Valedictory Evening to celebrate the Class of 2023.  Students, their parents/carers and friends joined together at The Grand on Princes to celebrate the graduation of our Year 12 students, as well as their academic achievements for the year.

It was a wonderful night and great to be able to bring the cohort together for one last time to celebrate and acknowledge their achievements as a group.

On Tuesday 5th December, our 2023 College Awards Night will be held at the Rivergum Performing Arts Centre.  Students across Years 7 to 12 will be recognised and celebrated for their academic achievements and growth over the school year.  Invitations for families of students receiving awards will be communicated shortly and I hope to see lots of students and their families at this wonderful event.

Pre-Conditions for Learning: Mobile Phones and Headphones

As with all Victorian state schools, we are expected to apply and follow the Ministerial policy formally issued by the Minister for Education under section 5.2.1(2)(b) of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic).

With regards to this policy, please see important information in the tiles below that clearly outline our college expectations for students each and every day.  Further information is also available from
