Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to everyone that was able to come along to last Friday’s Dance Concert at Trinity’s Jubilee Centre. The children did a fantastic job thanks particularly to Maddie from “Stomp” who managed and taught the whole school so much in such a short time.

We are conscious that we have missed our Music program this year and look forward to more consistency in this area next year.

I actually have to announce an edit to last week’s exhaustive staff news. One of Grade 4 teachers, Rebecca Sahyoune is leaving us to take up a position teaching at the Colac Specialist School. Rebecca has been with us for four years and has been a dedicated teacher and an excellent colleague. We wish her all the very best at her new school.

Ms Tammie Rooney will instead be teaching our third Grade 4 class in 2024 and Ms Alana Ingles will be taking on the music and drama role instead of Tammie. I am very grateful to both Tammie and Alana for taking on these roles and feel very confident that our teaching team remains a strong feature of Sacred Heart.

FOUNDATION 2024 BBQ We are looking forward to hosting our 2024 Foundation students and their families this Thursday evening, November 16th.

Thursday evening will begin with a brief Information session in the Multi-purpose Room while our staff cook a BBQ Tea for families and supervise children playing. Our staff will also provide salads. Families may like to bring their own drinks (there will be water on hand  for the children). The evening will conclude around 8:00pm.

The aim of the evening is to provide an informal gathering for families to meet each other and our staff where these relationships can begin or strengthen to support our student’s educational journey at Sacred Heart.

GRADUATION At the other end of the school journey our Grade 6 class is preparing to Graduate from primary school and continue their educational journeys in secondary school in 2024.

Parents and carers should please note that the Graduation Ceremony will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, December 14th at the Jubilee Centre at Trinity College.

Our “Transition Day'' for all students is on Tuesday, December 12th. Year 6 students will be spending the day at their chosen secondary school, next year’s Foundation class will be with us from 11:30am until 1:00pm and all other students will spend this same hour and a half with their 2024 class and teacher.

ASSEMBLY Parents please note we will hold our assembly on THURSDAY of this week. All are welcome.

BISHOP PAUL’S VISIT TO COLAC Many thanks to those families who were able to support Fr Michael by attending the Saturday evening Mass with the children newly confirmed in 2023 to meet our Bishop, Paul Bird. Thank you to Julie our R.E. Leader for helping this all happen.

MAKING A SCENE AT CHRISTMAS We are very pleased to be able to take the children to a display of Christmas Cribs from around the world that is being brought to Colac and will be on display in the Uniting Church Hall from Monday, November 27th until Friday December 1st. This presentation has been brought to Colac previously and this year has been expanded. Well worth a visit for the whole family as we begin to prepare ourselves for Christmas!

COLAC SHOW ART & CRAFTS Thought I’d include a photo or two from our foyer this week where we have some of some of our student's’ prize winning art from the recent Colac Show. It looks so bright and beautiful!
