Aspiration Day

5.12.23

On Tuesday we opened our doors to hundreds of primary school students as part in Year 5 Aspirations Day.

This is the second year GSSC has hosted the event, which is an initiative of the Shepparton Education Plan. The aim of this day is to inspire young people to dream big about their futures and start exploring the many career pathways and opportunities available to them.

From Virtual Reality Technology, to learning about the many jobs within the emergency services sector, students were able to take part in a range of activities also including welding simulations and hands-on learning with local council Maternal Child and Health nurses. Students were able to try their hand at nappy changing, eye tests and weighing babies.

Staff from universities and TAFE were onsite to answer questions about further studies and life after primary and second school and participants also enjoyed a sausage sizzle thanks to local Rotary clubs and GSSC staff and students helping our on the barbecues.

The idea of the event was to give students a real life experience into the world of work and the many job options available to them both locally and beyond.

We had many of our GSSC students assisting on the day as ambassadors and all represented the college proudly. We hope to see many of these young people as future GSSC students in a few years to come!
