As we bask in the warm embrace of summer weather, our Neighbourhoods are aglow with the festive spirit of Christmas. The vibrant decorations that adorn every Neighbourhood’s ground floor signify not just the arrival of the holiday season, but also the approaching end of the year at Greater Shepparton Secondary College.
The past couple of weeks have witnessed a flurry of activity within the walls of our college. Our campus has been graced by the presence of eager grade six students from our feeder primary schools. These young minds have embarked on a journey to explore the realms of Greater Shepparton Secondary College, acquainting themselves with the vibrant and enriching environment that awaits them in the future.
In the spirit of nurturing dreams and ambitions, we recently hosted the grade 5 Aspiration Day. This event, now in its second successful year since inception, proved to be a remarkable opportunity for students to envision their futures and set their sights on the possibilities that lie ahead.
On the same day our own Year 9s had their Aspiration Day, as they moved off campus and down to the MacIntosh Centre to engage in activities and presentations that will prepare them for entry to their senior years at GSSC.
These two days occurred in conjunction to the Early Commencement Program that saw our 2024 Year 12 and 11 students start their course content. It was pleasing to see the data around the attendance at this program and we encourage you to remind your child about the holiday homework that was set!
Other happenings at this busy end of the year included Beacon Foundation presentations during Early Commencement, the I CAN Network Ltd program delivery secured, Project Ready student graduation, the Music and GSSC Band recruitment evening and the final whole school assembly hosted by Biyala Neighbourhood.
The final assembly for 2023 focused on our core value of Integrity and next year’s College Captains and House Captains did a fantastic job of running this assembly. I encourage you to check out the GSSC Facebook posts for further information and fabulous photos of the above mentioned. There is no shortage of great things happening at Greater Shepparton Secondary College!
Excitement continues to build as we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our 2024 cohort of students on the State Wide Transition Day next Tuesday. This special day is designed to immerse our incoming students in the heart of our College, placing them into their respective Neighbourhoods and Houses. It offers a tangible preview of what it truly means to be a student at Greater Shepparton Secondary College. Keep your eye out for the coverage of this day on our social media platforms.
