Principal's Address

Good Afternoon Moonie Families.

Welcome to the last newsletter of the year.

What a busy year we have had. The children have all worked extremely hard to make great progress with their learning and to finish assessments in time to dive into concert practice.

Moonie State School Presentation Night and Concert.

Please find the invitation for presentation evening attached. Everyone is welcome to attend.   Dinner is provided free of charge on the night. Drinks and raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the bar. It all kicks off at 5pm and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Small School Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to Briella Borchardt and Heidi Hirst who achieved age champions on Monday and Joise Nolan and Hallie Wormwell who were runners up.

Emus versus Kookies Swim Carnival.

Our swimming carnival will take place at 1pm on Tuesday 5th of December. Families are invited to attend. Please pack lunch on this day as tuckshop will not be operating. We look forward to seeing all the children swimming in their new swim caps which were kindly donated by our P&C.

End of Year Celebrations.

On Thursday 7th of December, as part of a Moonie SS tradition, our graduating year 6 student, Hallie, will host an end of year party. This year’s party will be DISCO!  Students may wear free dress for that day. Tuckshop will be available for purchase at morning tea time. Lunch and afternoon tea will be provided free of charge as part of the disco party.

2024 School Dates.

Attached is a 2024 school calendar. You may clink on the image to download and save to your phone. We will also print and laminate a colour copy for all Moonie SS families.

STEM Day

On Friday, our students enjoyed a day filled with fun and hands-on learning during our gala for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The purpose of the day is to create awareness around the different STEM related careers that students may enter into. It was also a great exploratory learning opportunity for all of the children involved. From v8 racing drones, to mechanical Lego and exploding science experiments, we certainly learnt a lot and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to our P&C for catering and to all of the staff who helped plan and prepare for the event. Please enjoy the photos.

 Thank you!

As this is my last newsletter as the principal of beautiful Moonie State School, I would like to extend my most sincere thanks to all of the wonderful parents and community members who have made my year so enjoyable. This truly is a fantastic school and a wonderful place to work. All of the children here are so polite, hard-working and excited about their learning. All of these things make my job so much easier and thoroughly enjoyable. I will leave here next week with memories of a kind and welcoming community who have supported me through a very big year. I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas break and a fantastic new year. I look forward to seeing you all again soon when I bring baby Cuthbert back for a visit.
