In 2016, the year Trump won the US elections and the Western Bulldogs broke their premiership drought, our year level finished Year 12. Life today is nothing like I imagined it would be when I was growing up on the incredible Wantirna South Campus 8 years ago!
During school, I was a student who loved sharing jokes with teachers and playing cricket on our beautiful fake grass oval, freshly extended at that time, with the newly completed Science Wing.
I had no idea where life would take me after school, and in 2018, the craziest thing happened. As a pure joke, I started a private Facebook group called ‘Subtle Curry Traits', celebrating South Asian humor. Little did I know, this movement would go viral in ways I never imagined.
Today, many years later, the community has grown to more than 1 million members and is one of the largest private Facebook Groups on the planet! This has opened doors to help businesses with their Online Communities and conduct keynote speeches around the country, including Sydney University and the University of Queensland, to share how unity in a community can truly make something viral.
Beyond this incredible experience, God opened the door to spend 6 years in the banking & finance world and the opportunity to serve at our local church, helping see a new generation of Young Adults take on the spiritual legacy that our great city of Melbourne has.
I want to encourage all who are reading this: God has a plan for your life and wants to take you in incredible directions to prosper you in our community and city. I’m grateful to all the teachers who instilled terrific values in us during school, encouraging us to dream big for God’s kingdom!
Unity = Virality. This is what I’ve learned from my time since WCC, and I encourage our community of graduates who love Christ to come together at this time and push forward for His kingdom. Our community is one of world-changers, and my prayer is that we see many more Waverley alumni turning this world upside down for His glory.
