Welcome

From the Principal
Dear Alumni,
Many of you will now be aware of my decision to retire at the end of this year. Thank you for your expressions of kindness to me. It was not an easy decision to make. The College has been a huge part of my life for most of my life.
At the end of 2023, I completed 45 years of service to the College since beginning my employment as a physical education teacher in 1979. This year I will complete 40 years as the Principal of Waverley. For some time now, l have been giving consideration as to when I should retire.
After taking a number of factors into consideration, I have decided to finish up sooner rather than later and will be retiring at the end of this year. It has been an immense privilege and honour to lead the school community for the last 40 years and to see the College develop from a struggling entity to a thriving educational institution. It is my sincere hope and desire that the College will continue to go from strength to strength in the years ahead, and I will be doing all I can throughout 2024 to ensure that the College is well placed going forward. I am incredibly grateful to God for his faithfulness. The College has, throughout its existence, been the recipient of the unearned, undeserved, and unmerited favour of God.
I acknowledge that an announcement of this nature will inevitably lead to some unsettling in the school community. It is my hope and prayer that the peace of God will permeate our hearts and minds throughout this time of transition. Let us commit any doubts, fears, concerns, or anxieties to God. The College belongs to God first and foremost, so we can have confidence that He will be going before us and guiding the process of finding the next Principal to lead WCC. He has the best interests of the College at heart. WCC is a unique and special school community, and I encourage each one of you to maintain the unity and stability of the College as it continues to grow and develop into the future.
As the appointment of the College’s next Principal will be one of the more important decisions that the College Council has had to make in the last 40 years, it is imperative that we are all praying for our Council members, asking God to fill them with his wisdom.
It has been a joy serving you over my many years. I love hearing the stories of what our former students are now doing, and I encourage each one of you to maintain a connection with the College, as you are able to.
Every blessing
Mr. Peter Sheahan (College Principal)
