Christmas Liturgy - “Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room”

The theme for the 2023 Advent/Christmas Mass was, ‘Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room’. The Christmas story is one which calls people from all walks of life to celebrate the birth of a very special baby – a baby who heralded an invitation to open our hearts to the message of hope and love. Christmas is a time to recognise the diversity of our community, to celebrate our differences and to acknowledge that we share a Spirituality of the Heart which calls us to have open hearts, which are kind, generous and accepting of all.

All of us are invited to prepare room for Jesus in our own hearts. The seasons of Advent and Christmas are times to remember that we all need to slow down, to live more simply, to love more deeply and place our hope in the things that really matter.  To always have room in our hearts to celebrate love through the people we encounter is what the spirit of Christmas invites us to do, not just at Christmas, but each and every day.

Chev’s social justice partnership with the St Vincent de Paul Society is a living example of our liturgy theme, “Let every heart prepare him Room”. With generous, loving and open hearts, we have given so that others may receive. During the offertory procession Home Room representatives brought forward the Vinnies Christmas Appeal gift vouchers for our local residents. These gift vouchers have been lovingly given by our Home Rooms and many people in our Chevalier community, symbolising what it means to be an MSC person in action.

Many people do not have the means to celebrate Christmas like we do, or live on a day-to-day basis with the little luxuries we take for granted. What we have given will bring hope and love to the lives of others in our local community.

Merry Christmas to you all!
