Last Thursday, students from several Grade 3-6 classes were able to participate in First Aid with the St John's Ambulance Service. Kristian taught the students about DRSABCD (Danger, Response, Send, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation) and even let them try out their new CPR skills on some dummies. The classes that missed out will get their First Aid lesson on Tuesday 11th of June.
Our junior classes have had the incredible opportunity of participating in Taekwondo lessons these past few weeks. Dale and Julia from Rhee Taekwondo in Trafalgar have been doing a magnificent job training our students.
We are delighted to share some highlights from this year's Winter Sports, which took place on Monday, June 3rd. It was a day filled with energy, enthusiasm, and full-blown winter weather as our students competed in various interschool matches, including Tee Ball, Netball, Australian Football, and Soccer.
Our Tee Ball teams demonstrated remarkable skill and coordination, with students showcasing their excellent batting and fielding abilities. All games were closely contested, and our players displayed great sportsmanship and team spirit throughout the competition.
The Australian Football matches were great to watch, with our team demonstrating excellent skills and strategic play throughout the day. The students’ determination and athleticism were evident in every game, making us proud of their efforts and commitment.
Our Soccer teams also had a fantastic day on the field, showcasing their dribbling, passing, and goal-scoring prowess. Congratulations to all of our soccer students for playing with both skill and heart, and for representing our school exceptionally well throughout the day.
We would also like to extend our congratulations to all our Netball teams for their outstanding performances, exceptional teamwork, and unwavering sportsmanship during this year's competition.
The Girls A and Mixed Netball teams had an especially impressive day, culminating in both of these teams winning their respective competitions on the day. This fantastic achievement means that both teams will now progress to the West Gippsland Divisional competition on Monday the 17th of June. Further information about this event will be sent out after the long weekend.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many parents who volunteered their time as team coaches this year. Your hard work and support was critical to making this event a success, and we are truly grateful for your contribution to this competition.
The TPS Instrumental Music Program offers students the fantastic opportunity to learn and play a musical instrument guided by an expert/professional. This year we have around 100 students involved in the program.
Casey, Laura, Lindsay and Miles continue their great work every week. Lori has taken a break for a year to have her baby and Ayla is not teaching anymore due to other commitments. We have a new vocal/piano teacher starting this week.
I'm Ruby, I've been playing music for as long as I can remember and performing for almost a decade. I'm always trying to learn something new - from saxophone to banjo, and I love writing all types of songs and sharing my passion for music with others. I currently also teach instrumental at Jak's Music Warragul.
We still have some limited spots left in the program.
You can find a full description of all the instruments we offer, bios of all the teachers and a digital instrumental music form here - TPS Music Website - Instrumental
You can also get a form from the front office, or just outside the music room at the Instrumental form letter box. Return it to the front office or into the letter box and we can get lessons started as soon as possible.
The Instrumental program will showcase performers at a mid year concert on Thursday 27th June 5-7pm in the Music room.
Every Thursday Mr Allan runs a choir in the Music room during the second half of lunch.
All students are welcome, it’s free and numbers are starting to grow.
We are working on assembly performances in Terms 3 and 4 followed by a performance at the Trafalgar Carols by Candlelight later in the year.
Here is one of the fliers that students made up themselves and posted around the school.
