Junior School News

Year 3 to Year 6

Week 9 is drawing to a close!

Busy! Busy! Busy! Term 2 is drawing to a close and students are working hard to finish this Semester with a bang!

Year 6 students have been invited to the Serpentine Jarrahdale Career and Enterprise Expo, which has been designed to give students a hands-on experience as they explore the potential career pathways they may wish to pursue. During this designated time, students will have the opportunity to explore the following elements of the expo. With 80 amazing industry partners showcasing at the Expo, we will also have a diverse range of hands-on experiences for students to explore over the course of their session.

Year 4 students are working hard to prepare for their assembly this Friday. Apparently the students are proving to be quite talented in presentations of this nature! We can’t wait to see it!

Year 3 students have completed their preparations and celebrated their Sacrament of Reconciliation last Thursday night with about 50 Salvado Catholic College Staff, family, and friends to enjoy the special occasion with them!

While sad to see Ms Hegney leave at the end of the term, Year 5 students are excited about meeting their new teacher for Semester Two, Mrs Nicole King. Over the next few weeks, Mrs King will be visiting the Learning Space, getting to know the students ready for a smooth, happy transition.

Oxford Maths and strategic mental math strategies, fully aligned with the new Australian Curriculum v9.0, are being used across Junior School.

Oxford Maths is a comprehensive and engaging mathematics program for F–6 that ensures every student can access the curriculum at their point of need. The Maths program supports a 'gradual release of responsibility' approach that incorporates initial scaffolding, which is gradually reduced to allow students to become confident and independent mathematicians. We commend students and teachers in the amazing growth data has represented over the past Term. Well done everyone!

Warm regards,

Mrs Christine Pitman
