Calling all kids who love music!

Representatives from the Australian Boys Choir are visiting Hampton Primary during lunchtime on Wednesday June 29. Boys in Years 1, 2 and 3 will be invited to take part in a series of musical games with specialist music teachers from the Choir who will be assessing performance potential and general musicianship throughout these relaxed sessions.

With 85 years of experience, the Australian Boys Choir runs an exceptional program of music education, leading to opportunities to perform choral music at the highest standard locally, nationally and internationally. The Choir is based in Hawthorn however, with enough numbers there are plans to set up a program in Black Rock for Term 3!

Auditions for boys aged 7-9 are currently running online throughout Term 2 in preparation for entry in Term 3 of 2024. Please visit www.australianboyschoir.com.au/join for more info and to book an audition following the school visit.

The Choir also offers a non-auditioned Early Learners program which is open to both girls and boys aged 4-7 years. Term 2 classes still have a few places available. St Kilda FC AFL Visit

6A & 6B were very fortunate last Monday 13th May to be visited by some of St Kilda’s current AFL stars including Max King, Rowan Marshall, Jack Higgins and Dan Butler. The players held a Q&A session with the students, sharing tales of teamwork, perseverance and the joy of the game. Students asked excellent questions as part of their interviewing techniques, and helped develop a better understanding of the hard work and dedication that is part of life as an elite sportsperson. A big thank you to St Kilda FC for visiting Hampton PS!

District Cross Country

District Cross Country was held last Wednesday 15th May at Dendy Park. It was a beautiful sunny day for the event and all schools from the Seaside District were in attendance with many spectators enjoying the atmosphere. Selected Grade 4-6 students represented Hampton PS based on their excellent school cross country performance in the 9/10yo, 11yo and 12/13yo races. Our Hampton runners were electrifying and finished well in all races, with 9 students selected to represent our school at the Division races this week – Isla H, Frances K, Tao J, Dom F, Rosie, M, Milla M, Max M, Griffin L & Callan J. As the results were announced, it came down to two schools – Beaumaris North & Hampton! Unfortunately, we came in second place to Beaumaris North PS by only 34 points. The students showed excellent resilience and maintained integrity throughout the day and are to be commended for their efforts. Congratulations to all our runners and good luck to our Division runners for their upcoming event. Thank you to our teachers Max, Tom and Bre, and the parents who volunteered and spectated on the day!
