"Change is as good as a holiday"

Dear Parents and Families,

We are certainly on the move and it feels very real now!

An incredible fortnight of change and flexibility across our school. As of today all clasrooms have located in their new learning spaces, including  first aid, the staffroom and the front office have all moved to the other side of the building. Before and after school care has also re- loacted to the Mackillop Hall. Entrance is via Ferhill rd now for drop off and pick up.

This fortnight we have really been trying to focus on our Value of  Respect for self and others  across the school. What a fitting way to respect one another in this time of change. Excitement is certainly in the air! Some members of our community (parents & staff) have enjoyed the physical side of the move and we certainly have some handy people and project managers in our midst.

The Intervention framework

This week our Student Learning team ( Ms Bulte, Ms Collins and Mrs Stroud and myself ) rolled out the Intervention Framework with our staff. The Intervention Framework has a clear focus on the deliberate practice of teachers to enable all students the opportunities to be successful. It promotes academic, social, health and behaviour success for all learners through the systematic implementation of early identification, strategic support and scaffolded learning. It is premised on the belief that this can be best realised when teachers work collaboratively in a team-based approach. This framework and professional learning will continue over the next few terms with our staff to ensure we cater for all student needs across our school.

PSG meetings

I have had the priviledge in meeting with many families to have PSG ( Program support group) meetings to ensure each child's needs are being met across the school. It is so wonderful to work with the teachers and hear about the academic and social and emotional growth of these students. I commend families for being so pro-active in providing the intervention and care their children may need.

Grandparents and Special Friends Day

A highlight on the school calendar and today was no exception. It was standing room only in our hall this morning at assembly on Grandparents and Special Friends day.  A huge thank you to all the grandparents and special friends who have travelled distances to be at Sacred Heart this morning. Many grandparents came from interstate and from the country to be here.  It was truly a day of celebration for grandparents and special friends to visit the classrooms and see Sacred Heart in action. We acknowledge those grandparents who couldn't be here or are no longer with us. A huge thanks to all the parents (Brooke, Katrina, Selina, Kylie, Sonya, Tina, Helen and Luisa)  who helped out with the morning tea and ensuring everyone had a cuppa. We'll have to order more scones next year as it was a sellout!

Sacred Heart Feast Day

Congratulations to Mr Blake for co-ordinating his final feast day last Friday. We had an incredible morning with a full church at mass and so many families joining us for activities afterwards. We focused on a healthy heart, mind and soul with the range of activities across the school run by Ms Bulte, Mr Blake and Mr Brown. Thanks for making the day so wonderful and contributing financially to our sister school in Timor Leste.

Sacred Heart Disco

Thanks to the wonderful P & F especially Edwina Chalk and her team for organising a wonderful disco for our students on Friday 31st of May. The Mackillop hall was transformed and looked amazing. A huge thanks to Zena from Zena Photography for taking these wonderful photos. It looks like the Dj was  a bit hit and the students had an absolute ball.

Kinder visit

Last week I had a wonderful afternoon taking part in our community Kinder program where our year 4 students visit the students at Nagle kinder. The year 4 students were delighted to play with the pre schoolers outside on the equipment, reading books and doing puzzles and they even organised a game of 'duck duck goose'. Many of the Nagle students will be in prep at Sacred Heart in 2025 so this is a brilliant transition for our future preps to meet their buddies.

Finally it was wonderful for Thomas to celebrate his successes in my office this week when he read his story to me, his teacher and and his mum.

Congratulations Thomas, we are so proud of you!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend and stay warm,
