Before & After School Care
Week ending 24 May
This week here at Lalor East Theircare we have being exploring art in many ways. Children who have being coming to our service this week were able to use their imagination and create their own interpretation of art and what that means for them. Children were able to use manikins to create clothing's by using coloured paper, glue and natural materials, some children were exploring art by use different coloured textures to create pictures, shapes or their favourite footy team. The importance of the arts can not be denied. Art can help children develop communication and language skills, increase creativity, and improve selfesteem. The arts also expose children to exciting topics like history, geography, math, science, and technology that they might not come into contact with otherwise.
Group Activities
Cooperative play helps children hone their social skills as they figure out how to negotiate group dynamics. It helps them learn how to collaborate and compromise with others, recognize and respond to others' feelings, share, show affection, resolve conflicts, and adhere to the rules. Here at Lalor East Theircare children from Lalor East and St John’s XXIII Primary School have a chance to explore group activities as they also use play to explore new ideas. Group work gives children the opportunity to engage in process skills critical for processing information, and evaluating and solving problems, as well as management skills.
