YEAR LEVEL Captains Reports

"As Year Level Captains, we have been involved in many assemblies. We also attended a Year Level Captains meeting where we met all Year Level Captains and started thinking about our goals for the year. At the Year 7 assembly on Thursday 16 May we introduced our self's and also announced that we will be having a dodgeball tournament soon this term and the winning class will get a pizza party. Harry and Oscar also explained the rules to the dodgeball tournament. At the ANZAC Day assembly, Lucy and Charlotte carried the wreaths on stage followed by Harry and Oscar. We are so happy and excited to be the Year 7 Captains for the centenary year." Charlotte, Harry, Oscar and Lucy

"Hi everyone, we have been extremely honoured and content to have received this immense role as Lever Level Captains. So far, we have been to quite a few meetings, spoken at assemblies, learned to work together and became role models for our Year 8 cohort. We have had many meetings with coordinators, staff members and other Year Level Captains. In meetings, we discuss student results and data, achievements and upcoming events. Also, we have really enjoyed speaking in front of our cohort during assemblies. This year we have spoken at two assemblies, have helped out at the ANZAC Day assembly and are getting the hang of it very quickly. We are so excited for what the rest of the year will bring and all the opportunities and activities we will get to partake in." Layla, Chanrica, Willow and Harlee

"In the first few weeks of becoming Year 9 Captains, we have started to do some analysis on the Attitudes to School (AtoS) Survey data and brainstormed some ideas and key points we have noticed in the pattern of the results. During our first meeting we all introduced ourselves and decided on any agreements and goals we want to achieve this year as Year Level Captains. We have decided to focus on planning activities to help educate students on the importance of respecting others for their differences and including one another. We have also agreed to focus on connectedness and bringing everyone together throughout the year. We are all super excited to work on our goals for the cohort and help students with everything we can. We hope to have a great successful year with all students." Ruby, Archie, Diti and Charlotte

"So far in 2024 we have participated in a few different activities throughout the cohort. We started off with a Captaincy meeting where we got to meet captains of all year levels as well as got to connect with each other more as we will be working in a team for the entirety of 2024. During our year level meeting we discussed what we are looking forward to in 2024 as well as we revised over what we believe are appropriate expectations of us, as Year Level Captains, now that we have a larger role within our school community. During this meeting we also reviewed the data from Frankston High Schools’ AtoS Survey and discuss what we can do to try to positively impact these results during 2024. Furthermore, we were honoured to be involved in helping out with and speaking at our 2024 ANZAC Day assembly. We are all very excited for 2024 and what is to come and thank our cohort for trusting us to be their voice." Ahmed, Sophie, Joash and Felicity

"So far this year, we have been hard at work attempting to make the school year the best it can be for all students. Towards the end of Term 1, we helped run the special Year 11 ANZAC Day assemblies. To start Term 2, we looked through and reviewed AtoS Survey data from previous years and found areas of the data that we want to improve upon for the year coming. Not only did we focus on aspects of the school, we as captains wanted to improve, but we also had the idea to push out a simple form for Year 11 students to share their ideas and/or concerns about the school, into which we can then further act upon. In the near future, we will review these responses posted by our peers and make sure that every voice and idea is heard. We look forward to the year ahead, and hope that it can be a positive learning year for everyone in Year 11." Callum, Maggie, Blake and Lucas

"Recently the Year 12 cohort went to Phillip Island for our Year 12 Retreat, us included. This camp was a much needed break from our studies and school yet it also allowed us to connect with our peers and become stronger as a cohort. We feel very rejuvenated and relaxed after the retreat and are excited to get back into our leadership duties at school.

As school captains we have continued leading and organising our individual SLC teams this term and we cannot wait to welcome our recently new SLC recruits into these teams. Excitingly, we also just recently had our very first Year Levels Captain meeting. The captains from each year level were able to collaborate and meet to discuss issues, behaviours and attitudes at Frankston High School that we feel could use some improvement by reviewing the AtoS Survey data. We look forward to future Year Level Captain meetings to provide more student agency and work with future school leaders to implement positive changes into Frankston High School.

So far this year we have been delighted to host and attend various assemblies and events, such as the Anzac Day memorial service held at Beauty Park, the International Women’s Day breakfast which ran last term in which we were honoured to host and was a great success.

Additionally, we were able to host Frankston High School’s 100 years|100 voices book launch which was remarkable and brought together individuals, families and alumnus involved in Frankston High School from all generations and walks of life. We were honoured to provide these individuals with a tour of Frankston High School and its incredible new facilities whilst also hearing of how much the school had changed over time."
