PRINCIPAL's Message

Dear Parents/Carers, Students And Friends

Congratulations Brock Batty

Brock Batty of Year 11 has just been crowned the Australian Champion for men’s trampoline, an incredible achievement. This is the result of Brock’s dedication his whole life in pursuing his talents in trampolining. We are extremely proud of Brock, as understandably are his family. We look forward to following Brock’s bright future including hopefully at the upcoming Olympics this year.

Teaching Fellowship

Congratulations to Ms Sarah Edwards and Ms Birra-li Ward who attended a forum recently at the Victorian Academy for Teaching and Leadership and received their certificates for completion of their Teaching Fellowship. Well done, we are extremely proud and grateful to have you working in our school community.

2025 World Challenge

On Wednesday 1 May we ran the 2025 World Challenge Information Evening for interested students and their families in the Performing Arts Theatre (PAT). The turnout was incredible, with such a positive vibe amongst the audience as they heard from our grateful and enthusiastic 2023 World Challenge students, World Challenge representatives, and our amazing staff: Ms Cheryl Hodgson, Mr Mal Burt, Mr Brett Cook and Mr Jack Barbour. We look forward to supporting our students and staff as they prepare for this wonderful life experience.

Lifesaving

Our incredible lifesaving program continues to run and recently we had 60 students down enjoying a sunset surf at Point Leo. Over many years, the staff involved have created a special community with a focus on teamwork, leadership and respect. It is open to all year levels with one of the highlights being the leadership from our older students as they work with our junior students. Surf awareness, water safety and first aid are a focus, alongside giving back to our local community. Well done to all involved and thank you to our amazing staff who run this program including Mr James Cameron, Mrs Georgia Tierney, Ms Emily Blaak, Mr Adam Martin and Mr Dylan Garrett.

2025 Japan Tour

On Monday 6 May we hosted an information evening for interested students and their families regarding the 2025 Japan Tour. There was huge interest in this wonderful opportunity, organised by Ms Tonia Hast. We look forward to welcoming our Sister School friends from Kawaguchi Kita High School from 26 July to 3 August this year.

Aerobics

On Saturday 11 May, our Aerobics students participated in the Victorian Super Series event held in Rowville. We were thrilled with the results:

  • Our pre-choreography mixed team placed 3rd
  • Our pre-choreography Year 7 team placed 2nd
  • Our large team placed 1st
  • One of our pairs placed 1st

We look forward to seeing our students perform at the upcoming State Championships. Congratulations and thank you to Ms Gen Donovan for her efforts coaching and supporting our students.

Year 12 Retreat

Last week we ran the Year 12 Retreat to Phillip Island to provide our Year 12 students with the opportunity to connect with their peers and teachers as well as giving them an opportunity to reinvigorate for the rest of the year. The students participated in activities that strengthened their connection to their peers, teachers and the school community. Thank you to Ms Tiffany Greenhill, Ms Kelly Mitchell, Ms Kate Burgess and Mr Jack Barbour for organising this opportunity for our students, supported by many staff in attendance. Read more here

World Education Support Day

Thank you to our ES staff for everything they do to make our school so great! Last Thursday 16 May was World Education Support Personnel Day, a day for us to recognise the extraordinary contributions our ES team make in our school. We hosted a breakfast for our ES staff, and they also received personal thank you notes from the rest of our staff to recognise their contributions and thank them.

IDAHOBIT Day

On Friday 17 May and throughout last week, we acknowledged IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersex Discrimination and Transphobia) Day in a number of ways. We do this to support our LGBTQIA+ students and foster inclusiveness within our school community. Thank you to Mrs Sarah Bahramis and our SLC students for their fantastic efforts to increase our community awareness and inclusivity.

I want to reiterate my absolute support for this initiative and that homophobia in any form or on any media source is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated by our school community.

Centenary Year

We recently received a congratulatory letter from the Governor of Victoria, the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, on the 100th anniversary of Frankston High School this year. She sends her warmest congratulations to all of you our staff, parents and students of our wonderful school. See letter here
