International Report

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome to Term 2 of our International Student Program newsletter! We are thrilled to bring you updates on the latest happenings within our vibrant and diverse international student community. This edition will highlight ISP student academic achievements, new enrolments, and extracurricular endeavours from our international students.

Annual Award Assembly

We are delighted to share with you the remarkable accomplishments of our international students. Despite facing language barriers and navigating a new cultural landscape, our students have demonstrated extraordinary resilience, determination, and academic excellence, earning awards and recognition across various disciplines.

It is with great pride that we highlight that our students have truly distinguished themselves as exemplary members of our school community.

Welcoming New Arrivals

In addition to WELC, we also have incoming students who are currently studying at private language centres. They’ve been living and studying close to the city and are scheduled to join us next term. Despite the challenges posed by distance and language barriers, ISP has remained committed to supporting and guiding these students every step of the way. Through regular check-ins and ongoing communication, we have had the privilege of witnessing their progress and growth, eagerly anticipating the day when we can officially welcome them into our school community.

Extracurricular Endeavours

We’d also like to shine a spotlight on a remarkable group of students within our International Student Program who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, hard work, and teamwork. Every Thursday, a dedicated group of boys self-organise and gather to practice futsal, showcasing their passion for the sport and their unwavering dedication to self-improvement.

Their commitment to regular practice has not gone unnoticed, as they continually strive to hone their skills, refine their techniques, and push themselves to new heights. These boys exemplify the spirit of sportsmanship and determination that defines our International Student Program.

To our futsal enthusiasts and all members of our international student community, we applaud your achievements and celebrate the spirit of unity, camaraderie, and excellence that you embody. May your passion for the game continue to inspire and unite us all as we cheer you on from the sidelines and celebrate your successes on and off the field.

Year 10 International Students at Work Experience!

WELC Report

We are at the end of Term 2 and 19 of our students will be leaving the Language Centre to move onto their mainstream schools. We wish all those students all the best in their future studies! Transition reports will be given to them at our graduation this Friday. We are also looking forward to our drama class give a performance of “Ghost Busters” at our graduation.

Eight of our students were recently commended for their academic excellence or improvement at a whole-school assembly. A big congratulations to Menhchheang, Sugam, Rangga, Fei, Solo, Asad, Letong and Ahmad for receiving an award! We also would like to congratulate all our students for putting in effort every day to improve their English. The skills you are learning now will be useful for the rest of your life, wherever you decide to live in the future.

This week we had Wild Action visit our school. Students were introduced to many different kinds of Australian animals and the presenter explained how the animals helps us. For example, lizards eat snails to keep our vegetable patch growing well and frogs eat mosquitoes and flies which are annoying in summer. Some of the animals are endangered animals. Students and teachers were also able to pat all the animals. Some students were brave enough to have a hold of some of the animals which was a wonderful experience!

A reminder to all parents that we will have a two-week holiday from 29 June to 14 July. School will start again on Monday 15 July. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday and encourage all students to continue to practice their English throughout the break.
