Assistant Principal (Years 11/12) Report
Mr Jason Tickner
A reminder to all students and parents/carers: Semester 1 Reports will be available on Compass at 4 pm on Friday, 28th June. These reports provide a detailed breakdown of student performance in each subject over the semester. They include information on grading of summative assessments, performance in learning behaviours, attendance rates, and outcomes or unit completions in VCE, as well as achieved Victorian Curriculum subject levels (Years 7-10). The reports also serve as a great basis for discussions during the Semester 2 Parent-Teacher conferences next term. Instructions on how to access your child's report are attached below.
Following on from information within previous newsletter all students will be selecting subjects and/or programs within the 2025 Program/Subject Selection process. Once again, this is a critical time for students. Especially, our Year 10 students who will be selecting programs and subjects that will influence their pathway post-secondary schooling. Over the holiday period it is recommended that all students read through the sub-school handbooks to inform themselves on what programs and subjects are available to them in 2025. It is critical that parents are also actively involved in this process. Going through sub-school handbooks with your child is an easy way to create this connection. Sub-school and iCreate handbooks, containing subject information, can be found below.
Please Note: Year 7 students should be referencing Junior School & iCreate handbooks, Year 8 students the Middle School & iCreate handbooks, Year 9 students the Middle School & iCreate handbooks, Year 10 & 11 students the Senior School handbook.
At Year 10, teachers will be recommending students in science and maths subjects, based on their CAT performance throughout Semester 1 in these subjects. Throughout Term 3 2025 Course/Subject Selection information will also be shared on Compass to assist students and parents to stay up to date with tasks and activities that need to be completed as part of this process. This year we will once again be running a Course Selection Parent Information Evening on Thursday, 18th of July in the Senior Learning Centre. The session will commence at 6pm and conclude at 7pm.This session is for students and parents of all year levels, however, is particularly relevant for students & parents of Year 9 & 10 who are now selecting subjects that are shaping their educational pathway into their senior years of schooling.
The second round of Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Wednesday 31st July. Parent-Teacher interviews are crucial for fostering effective communication between parents and teachers, ensuring that our students learning needs are being met. The conversations that take place during these meetings allows parents and teachers the opportunity to discuss a child’s academic progress which includes areas needing improvement and areas of celebration. Active parent involvement is linked to higher student achievement as the conversations allow parents to engage more deeply with their child’s education, reinforcing learning and support at home. Like the first round of Parent-Teacher Interviews parents will have the opportunity to attend in person or online via your child’s laptop, and the Microsoft Teams platform. Interpreters are also able to be booked and used to facilitate effective communication between parents and teachers. Instructions on how to book Parent-Teachers Interviews can be found below.
The Parent-Teacher portal will not be open on Compass until term 2 Week 2.

In conclusion, I wanted to thank all the staff and students within our senior school. We have collectively worked hard to maintain a positive and productive work ethic this Semester. Our VCE mainstream students continue to prepare well for school-based assessments and work productively to complete coursework within their respective subjects. For our Year12 VCE cohort, VCAA exams loom ahead, which presents equally a challenging, and exciting hurdle to face. Our VCE Vocational Major students have maintained progress in their core subjects, with the completion of coursework and assessments. Externally, they have applied themselves well in their SBATs or VET programs. To our senior students I would encourage, and challenge you to continue to perform the basics well. Maintaining a high level of attendance, plan to revise content daily and maintain a healthy mind and body. This will assist you to achieve academic success.
This Semester there has been some changes in staff leadership, and I wanted to thank Ms. Helen Ifandis (Director of Learning), Ms. Kristina Vasilakis (Year 12 Coordinator), Mr. Kristian Gropel (Year11 Coordinator), Mr. Jonathan Roberts (VM Coordinator), Ms. Vicky Karayiannis (ES Support), Ms. Geraldine (Careers and Pathways Advisor) and Ms. Jane Jamieson (HeadStart Coordinator) for their dedication in working with the senior students, in their respective areas. As a sub-school we are well placed to move into the second half of the year confident of success, and the achievement of individual and sub-school goal and targets.
Well done everyone!
Mr Jason Tickner
Assistant Principal (Year 11/12)
