Westall under 16s boys and under 18s boys and girls attended the NRL 9s tag competition on Thursday the 20th of June with great success. The girls 18s finished 1st in their league while both boys teams finished in the top 3.

The day included a workshop delivered by former NRL player Alan Tongue on the topic domestic violence and respectful relationships.

Amazing Mazen, at

the  Bounce Excursion

Ever wondered what it would feel like to climb a 20-metre wall or balancing through the high ropes course?  Nervousness, anticipation, curiosity, apprehension or just nervousness.

Today on June 19th, the Icreate excursion was aimed to further develop a strong connection between fun and physical activities connected to our sports.  The experience also encouraged a positive mindset towards developing ongoing physical activity habits.  The sessions were designed for us to explore the athletic fundamentals of balance, coordination and agility through exciting lens of freestyle.

The most popular challenges were the ‘Slam Dunk’ Gorilla challenge and the impulsive dodge ball trampoline arena. Devante, Noah and Tyrone were really good in the performance arena performing backward somersaults. Rhianna jumped continuously to slam dunk.  The best performers were Sukraj and Allech. They did 360 spins and Tyrese kept the ring busy with hang time.

Emily and others overcame their fears by completing the ropes course and Humaira and Ayesha were the first to go up the magnificent tower of rings and ropes. The others looked on but excitement set in and they had to have a go.  That’s what it was about.

I forgot that Mazen was amazing at the Slam Dunk flying so high that he could pass the ball under his legs and finish with a ‘sky hook’ into the ring.

Overall, the students were 10 out of 10.  The best kids in the world.   A big thank you to everyone who helped and to the supervising teachers Mrs Arvanitis and Mr Brown.

Next semester, the sports will be changing.  We look forward to an exciting second half of the year.
