The 2025 Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC) has been extended

The challenge now closes to students on Friday, 19th September, 2025

(Week 9, Term 3).It was wonderful to see so many students complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge during the holidays. So many students are also close to completing the challenge. So keep recording the books you have read and enjoy each new adventure.

National Simultaneous Storytime

“National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 25th successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.”  (ALIA, 13th May, 2025)

This year, the event will take place next Wednesday, 21st May, from 12pm to 1pm. I am excited to announce that the featured book for this year's event is 'The Truck Cat' by Deborah Frenkel. Students will have the opportunity to experience this event with their class. Due to Year Four’s excursion on Wednesday, they will get to experience the book on Thursday.

Book Club

Students should have received a Book Club catalogue (Issue 3) and are able to order books, via Scholastic Book Club. The last day to order online is this Sunday, 18th May, 2025. All orders will be sent to the school and given to your child/children after all orders have been processed and received.

Thank you for your continued support of the Scholastic Book Club. Your recent purchases have directly helped us expand our book collection, providing more reading opportunities for all our students. Your generous support plays a vital role in nurturing our student’s passion for reading.
