Curriculum Overview

Last week, we shared the Term Two Curriculum Overview, which highlights the key topics, learning experiences, important dates and uniform information. I strongly encourage you to take a moment to read and discuss it with your child/ren. Familiarity with the overview will help you engage your child/ren in meaningful conversations about their learning, supporting their success and motivation.

Reading

Reading with your child is more than just sharing words on a page-it’s a meaningful journey that ignites imagination, builds confidence, and strengthens your bond. Each time you open a book together, you’re opening doors to your child’s future.

There are so many benefits to reading at home, such as expanding your child’s vocabulary, enhancing their communication skills, improving memory, building problem-solving abilities, fostering emotional understanding like empathy and encouraging creativity and imaginative thinking.

As you read aloud with your child, pause to discuss the story, ask questions about what is happening, encourage your child to summarise sections in their own words or make predictions about what is coming next. You may even like to stop to discuss the meaning of tricky words or make connections between the story and your child's life or other stories you have read together.

Remember that children learn by watching the adults around them. When you read regularly, whether books, newspapers, or everyday materials like cereal boxes or recipes, you show your child that reading is both valuable and enjoyable. This positive example inspires your child to develop a lifelong love of reading.

I encourage you to make reading together a daily habit and embrace the incredible benefits it brings to your family. Happy Reading!

Playground

I would like to address some concerns that have arisen regarding playground interactions among students. We understand that playground disagreements can be concerning for parents. Please remember that such situations are a normal part of childhood and teachers are always present supervising and ensure every child’s safety and well-being. When your child comes home with stories, remember you are hearing one side of the story. Please trust that we are handling playground matters carefully and if anything important arises, a member of staff will be sure to reach out to you to discuss the situation. Thank you for your continued support.
