Grade 5/6

What a fantastic start to Term 2 the Grade 5/6s have had! We have started our whole class text, ‘Us Mob Walawarru’, which explores Australia in the 1960s. We have also been reading supplementary informative texts and taking notes on life prior to, leading up to, and after the 1967 Referendum in Australia. Students have been using their notes to plan their own factual recount of the event, focusing on structuring their paragraphs accurately. It has been brilliant to see students learning new information about this significant event in Australian history!

In Mathematics, students have been applying their order of operations knowledge to solve equations, write their own equivalent expressions, and solve worded problems. The Grade 5/6s are becoming experts in remembering the order of operations and should be commended for their efforts!

In Science, we have been exploring erosion and weathering, and in Humanities we have begun exploring sustainability, including Indigenous practices that support sustainable caring of Country. Also, this term our Grade Six students received their special Grade Six shirts which they quickly started wearing with pride!
