ANZAC Day
We were thrilled to receive the news that Vincent Yu (5 Blue) was the winner of the Strathfield Council ANZAC Day Poetry Competition this year. Vincent was invited to recite his beautiful poem at the Strathfield Council ANZAC Day Service last week.
Vincent represented the College with pride and recited his poem barely looking at it! Congratulations Vincent, we are incredibly proud of you! Enjoy Vincent’s poem below.

Who are they?
They are the cherished, the brave and the strong,
Who marched through the fire, though the road was long.
They held their heads high, through fear and through pain,
To defend what they loved, through the loss and the rain.
Who are they?
They are the fallen, their stories untold,
Who gave up their future, their youth, their gold.
They lie beneath fields where the poppies grow red,
Their sacrifice speaks, though they sleep with the dead.
Who are they?
They are the living, with courage so true,
Who carry the memories for me and for you.
They honour the bonds of mateship and trust,
And remind us to treasure the freedom that's just.
Who are they?
They are the heroes, not seeking fame,
But etched in the stars, we remember their name.
On this solemn day, we stand and we say,
We will never forget them—on each Anzac Day.
Who are they?
They are their mothers’ kids, who laid down their lives for us,
With dreams left unfinished, now covered in dust.
Their laughter and love, once filling the air,
Are now gentle whispers of courage and care.
On this special day—Anzac Day,
We bow our heads, with thanks to convey.
To the fallen, the fearless, the ones who stood tall,
Your courage and sacrifice inspire us all.
With hearts full of gratitude, we say once more,
Thank you for freedoms we deeply adore.
Your legacy shines, steadfast and bright,
Guiding us always, as we hold to the light.
