Preschool Learning

In Preschool we have been learning a lot about our bodies!
We listen to our bodies when they tell us we are hungry or thirsty. Our bodies tell us when we are hot, cold or need to go to the toilet. This term we have been learning a lot about our feelings and emotions. We have learnt that everyone has emotions, and even though we don't always understand our emotions, they help us learn what our bodies need.
We have been exploring our regulation tools in the preschool. These include "fidget tools", quiet areas, and different sensory experiences. All of these can help us regulate when we have big, overwhelming emotions. We experimented with cooked, coloured fettuccini pasta this week. It started off slippery, then got sticky as it dried out. We used it to make moustaches and pictures on the table. Some of us liked squishing it between our fingers! And some of us did not like the feeling of it at all!
We enjoy these sensory experiences because it helps us learn what makes our bodies feel better when we are overwhelmed.
