Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and families,
Some years ago I had the opportunity to study in Rome at the direction of the Catholic Education Office. Part of that allowed the group of mainly Primary School Principals to meet with various dicastries, I guess we would call them departments, of the Vatican. During these meetings we had the opportunity to meet with the Cardinals and staff responsible for these departments. Unbelievably it was our great good fortune that we were hosted by 3 of the Cardinals who are being considered for our next Pope- Cardinal Turkson, Cardinal Tagle and Cardinal Parolin. These men were warm and welcoming and if this represents the calibre of person who will be our next Pope then our Church is in very good hands. As our Church continues the period of mourning for Pope Francis before the conclave commencing on Tuesday we can only pray that their discernment will select a Pope for these challenging times.
It’s been a busy week at school, with plenty of events to keep us busy, creative, and thoughtful.
- The Preparation Evening for First Eucharist was held at the Church and all enrolled families were in attendance
- On Wednesday, selected students represented our school at the District Cross Country. They all ran well and many of the students finished in the Top 10 which qualifies them for the Division Cross Country later in the term. Special congratulations to Year 6 students Macey and Harry who finished in the top 3 in their events.
Looking ahead to next week:
- Dance Wellbeing Workshop should be a lot of fun Monday morning for the students
- The students will need to bring some money on Wednesday for the Mothers' Day Stall
- On Thursday afternoon all staff will complete their 3 yearly First Aid Training and yearly CPR revision after school
- On Thursday our Year 6 Marine Ambassadors will attend Moorooduc PS with Mr Sullivan
- On Friday we look forward to welcoming Mums and other special visitors for our annual Mother's Day Celebration. Thanks to staff for your organisation of this.
In building news I was informed this week that preferrred tenders have been identified. There is now a process to work through before the contract is awarded to the successful company. It appears likely that builders will not be on-site until very close to the end of term. It is a very exciting time for our school.
Thanks again for a wonderful week, and we look forward to what’s ahead!
God Bless
Rod Shaw
