Welcome and overall learning summary

Welcome

A big welcome to all the new families joining us this term, and it’s wonderful to see our returning families back at school. Term One was a fantastic start to the year, full of exciting learning experiences that showcased our students’ growth, resilient, and leadership. From our excursion to the Lume’s Van Gogh exhibition, to interschool sports and cross country, there were many opportunities for students to demonstrate their teamwork, support for one another, and sportsmanship. It was inspiring to watch them collaborate and encourage each other every step of the way.

As we move into Term Two, our Year Sixes are in for another busy and rewarding term. We’re committed to providing them with opportunities to challenge their thinking and stretch their abilities. From engaging classroom experiences to our exciting Innovation programs, there’s plenty in store to help students develop lifelong skills in areas such as English, Mathematics, Inquiry and so forth.

At Glen Waverley Primary School, we believe that success isn’t just about academic achievement. That’s why, alongside our rigorous learning programs, we are continuing our focus on wellbeing through The Resilience Project. This program is designed to nurture empathetic, persistent students who will be well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Finally, during this term, you should expect an information package about your child’s secondary school transition. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any member of the Year Six team or get in touch with out administrative staff the front office. Furthermore, we have our Student Led Conferences scheduled for the later part of the term. Please keep your eye on Compass for any notices or information regarding the interviews. As always throughout the year, we encourage you to contact us if you have any queries regarding your child’s learning or wellbeing.
