Welcome from the PHAA

Welcome to the first edition of the Pittwater House Alumni Association’s (PHAA) newsletter, the 'Watermark'.

The PHAA is an independent incorporated association that was formed in 2011 to foster the large network of old boys, old girls and friends of Pittwater House. As at the date of publication, we have over 800 life members from across the School’s history who are located all over the world. The PHAA created the Watermark to showcase the adventures, stories and experiences of the former students of Pittwater House and to help our alumni re-connect with updates from Pittwater House.

In this first edition, we are incredibly proud to share the stories of Chad Crittle (class of 2008), the newly appointed Director of the Adelaide Zoo; Celeste Haworth (class of 2003), an Opera Singer who has performed on some of the most prestigious stages across Australia and Europe; and, Ben Cook (class of 2020) a Graduate Economist with the Commonwealth Treasury. We are also extremely pleased to include a welcome and update from the outgoing Principal, Dr Nancy Hillier, who retired earlier in this year.

Beyond these stories, the PHAA has had a busy year with multiple fantastic events. In March 2025, we welcomed a large number of former students back to Pittwater House for the Easter Fair. The PHAA had its own area, where members of our network were able to join us to catch up and have a drink. Due to rain, the fair had to move into the Great Hall, but this didn’t ruin the day; in fact, it brought everyone closer.

More recently, we hosted the inaugural ‘Alumni Social’, a trivia night at Long Reef Surf Club. Former students from the 1980s through to 2024 gathered for some friendly competition, good food and drinks, and lots of laughs with our trivia master and former teacher, Mr Jim Maydo. It was fantastic to see everyone reconnecting after such a long time. These events remind us just how special the Pittwater House community truly is.
