Dear St Mary’s Community,

Celebrating the Pope’s Inauguration Mass

This week, our Catholic community joined with others around the world to celebrate the Inauguration Mass of the Pope a moment of great spiritual significance and unity. This special Mass marks the beginning of the Pope’s public ministry and reminds us of his role as a global shepherd, guiding the Church with humility, faith and a deep commitment to the Gospel.

At our school, this event also invites us to reflect on how we live out our own call to faith through our school values. The Pope’s message of love and service speaks clearly to our commitment to Compassion, shown in how we care for others; Integrity, in staying true to what is right; Justice, in standing up for fairness and dignity and Respect, in recognising the worth of every person. As we celebrate this moment in the life of the Church, we are reminded of the impact we can have when we follow Christ’s example in our words and actions each day.

As we continue through the joyful Easter Season, we approach the Sixth Sunday of Easter on May 25. This period invites us to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and reflect on the hope and renewal it brings to our lives.

This Sunday's Gospel reading, from John 14:23–29, features Jesus assuring His disciples of His enduring presence through the Holy Spirit. He emphasizes the importance of love and obedience, promising peace to those who follow His teachings.

As a school community, let's take this opportunity to deepen our faith and commitment to living out these values, fostering a nurturing and respectful environment for all.
