Thank you – Election day BBQ and cake stall
We just wanted to acknowledge the efforts of those staff, students and families who contributed to our Election Day BBQ and cake stall. It was a perfect day weather wise and a great chance for the wider community to come through the school. A special mention to Sarah Wicking for her time, effort and energy ensuring everything was organised and working with local businesses for our supplies. Thanks to the parents who gave up their mornings to set up, cook the BBQ and help serve the yummy treats. We greatly appreciated the contributions from our families who donated baked goodies – thanks so much.
We have made good use of the polling booth cardboard boxes for both the Visual Arts and STEM rooms as students and staff are working towards transforming the school which is bringing much excitement and fun.
Mother’s Day stall
Today we held our Mother’s Day stall in readiness for Sunday. Thanks again to Sarah for her organisation and coordination and to the helpers who assisted our students finding the perfect gift, Rowan Coxhead, Anna Benjamin, Ben & Katrina Shannon & Geoff Lyon! I hope our students make it very special and show their appreciation and gratitude.
Our students in F-2 and 34CA hosted a Mother’s Day afternoon today which is always nice. Thanks to Jane, Alison, Courtney, Sharyn and Jacinta for organising.
Whole School Excursion – Friday 9 May - tomorrow
As part of our integrated learning program this term, students will be attending an excursion to the Melbourne Aquarium. This experience will directly support our inquiry into ocean environments and sustainability, explored across Visual Arts, STEM, and classroom learning.
Our Year 6 students are catching the train and will be meeting the rest of the school at the Aquarium as they are combining some city leadership activities as well.
Throughout the term, students will investigate key topics including:
- Marine ecosystems and animal life
- The impact of ocean plastics and global warming
- Human influence on marine environments
- Sustainable practices and environmental responsibility
The visit to the aquarium will provide students with a rich, real-world context to deepen their understanding of these important global issues. Students will engage with interactive exhibits, observe marine life up close, and participate in sustainability-focused learning experiences. The knowledge and insights gained during the excursion will inform ongoing class projects and discussions, ultimately contributing to our Celebration of Learning Open Night at the end of the term on Wednesday 3 July.
We believe this excursion is a valuable educational opportunity that supports curriculum goals while encouraging environmental awareness and stewardship
Feedback for School Council
At the end of last term families had the opportunity to provide some feedback whilst the students enjoyed some popcorn, fairy floss, cordial and pizza.
Questions we are seeking feedback on are:
- If you had a magic wand, what is one thing you would change about our school?
- What is something you think should not change about our school?
- What would you say makes our school special?
- What should we start doing?
