STEM

Prep - In Term Two, students are focusing on chemical sciences - the study of substances. They will be investigating what objects are made of. During the last two weeks, students demonstrated their understanding of different materials and their properties by sorting objects by materials and describing a particular object based on its properties.
Year 1/2s - In Term Two, students are focusing on physical sciences - the study of non-living things. They will be investigating sound energy and how different sounds are produced. During the last two weeks, students have revised what they have learned during the term and demonstrated their understanding of sound through answering a variety of questions. We have also had some time to play guess the pitch and guess the sound.
Year 3/4s - In Term Two, students are focusing on physical sciences - the study of non-living things. They will be investigating heat energy and how it is generated and transferred. During the last two weeks, students have conducted an investigation about insulation where they tested how well different materials keep water in a can hot. They have also participated in their first unit quiz to revise and demonstrate their understanding of the information learned during the term.
Year 5/6s - In Term Two, students are focusing on physical sciences - the study of non-living things. They will be investigating light energy and how it travels and changes. During the last two weeks, students have investigated reflection using laser pointers and mirrors. They have completed multiple challenges requiring them to work together, and trial and adjust in order to be successful. Students have also participated in a unit quiz to revise and demonstrate their understanding of the information learned during the term.
