Principal Report
Good afternoon, everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend and found some time to relax, recharge, and fill your cup in whatever way works best for you. I certainly enjoyed attending the local football club's 150-year celebration event. It was wonderful to see so many members of our community coming together to celebrate such a significant milestone.
As always, it has been another busy and productive fortnight at school.
We have continued our work with the Simon Story Players program, and it has been fantastic to see how engaged our students are in the drama activities. The program is building confidence, creativity, teamwork, and communication skills, and students are thoroughly enjoying the experience.
I am excited to see how the project develops throughout the year and am already looking forward to the end-of-year production. Opportunities such as this would not be possible without the success of our $35,000 grant, which has enabled us to provide rich learning experiences for our students.
Our toilet block upgrade is now nearing completion. I would like to sincerely thank our students, staff, and families for their patience and understanding throughout the construction process.
As with many projects involving older buildings, there have been a few minor challenges along the way. However, I would like to acknowledge the Victorian School Building Authority and the tradespeople involved for identifying and addressing issues quickly and professionally.
I know our staff are particularly excited about having more than one toilet available to them, and we are all looking forward to enjoying the finished facilities.
I know the condition of our netball court is something many members of our community are concerned about, and I want to assure families that I continue to work behind the scenes to secure a long-term solution.
Recently, I submitted an application for a $600,000 grant that would allow us to completely replace the existing surface and provide students with a safe, high-quality outdoor space. While funding is never guaranteed, we are hopeful that our application will be successful.
In the meantime, I am working closely with regional Occupational Health and Safety staff and our school team to ensure the area remains as safe as possible for students to use.
School Council met last night and discussed a range of important matters.
One decision made was to move towards appointing a dedicated manager for our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program. While Education Support staff have done an outstanding job supporting the program, balancing these responsibilities alongside their regular duties has placed additional pressure on staff.
We are aiming to have this new structure in place from the beginning of next term.
What is particularly pleasing is the continued growth and success of our OSHC program. Attendance numbers remain strong, and we are regularly reaching capacity several days each week. It is wonderful to see families making use of this valuable service.
Bookings for the upcoming holiday program are now open, and the final program details will be released shortly. To ensure the program remains financially viable, holiday program days will only proceed when a minimum of seven children are booked to attend.
Our enrolments for 2027 are now open, and I am excited to share that we already have five Prep enrolments confirmed.
As we begin planning class structures and staffing for next year, it is incredibly helpful for families to enroll early. If you know of any families considering our school, please encourage them to get in touch.
We are always happy to arrange school tours and can accommodate visits at a time that suits prospective families.
On the last day of term, we will be holding an Out of Uniform Day, with students encouraged to wear blue in support of the Terry Floyd Foundation.
The Terry Floyd Foundation provides practical assistance to local families experiencing hardship, including food support, emergency assistance, and community-based programs. Many families within our wider community have benefited from the Foundation's generosity over the years.
As a school, we are proud to support the Foundation as they continue to support us through regular donations and the provision of monthly food hampers for families in need.
We encourage students to wear blue and make a gold coin donation as we come together to support an organisation that gives so much back to our community.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support of our school. It is wonderful to see what we can achieve when we work together as a community.
Kind regards,
Rebecca Luckman
