Victorian Maths Talent Quest Awards

On Monday 27th October I had the privilege of attending the Victorian Maths Talent Quest awards ceremony held at Melbourne University along with two brilliant mathematicians from our school, Kiomi Fernando from 3BC and Dion Hofmann from 4SM.

Both these students achieved a High Distinction mark for their maths investigations judged by teachers across Victoria.

Dion's investigation was about aircraft design and how to make the best paper airplane that would fly long distances. Kiomi explored the maths relating to fractals in nature.

I was proud to support both these talented students as they received their certificates along with their parents who also attended.

The Maths Talent Quest is held each year. If you are interested in taking part in 2026 make sure you watch out for a Compass post early in Term.
