Kingston Division Cricket

On Thursday our Boys and Girls Cricket team competed at the Kingston Division Cricket carnival.

See below reports from Ethan and Maeve about their experience

Boys Cricket

On Thursday the 23rd of October the year 5/6 Boys competed at Kingston Division cricket which was played in Carrum. It was a very high standard of cricket, with many representative players participating. Unfortunately the boys went 0-3 but tried their hardest even keeping the winning team, Parkdale, to a total of only 190 runs. Some highlights of the day included Luca’s one handed catch in the opening game, Marlow's run out, a direct hit from the boundary and Will and Marlow’s batting partnership in the last game. Overall the boys did really well to make it to the Division stage and great job to the girls for making it to Regionals. Finally, a big thanks to Mr Penny for giving up his time to train us on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday before school and to Stef and Bec for scoring and umpiring the boys games.

Girls Cricket

On the 23rd of October the girls and boy cricket competed in the Kingston Division cricket competition. The girls played Tucker Road and they won 103-67, with Maeve hitting a six and Lyla's amazing bawling and batting. In the second game we played Carrum Primary School. In this game everyone played outstandingly, we won 77-64 in a very close game. This was highlighted by our encouragement and celebrating each other’s success.  In the final we played Parkdale Primary, who finished on top of their Pool. It was a once again a close game and everyone played so well. With a special mention to Ella taking an incredible catch, Liv’s important boundaries into the double zone, and Mackenzie’s batting and bowling at the end of both innings. In the last over, Parkdale needed approximately 15 runs to win, Mackenzie stepped up and took 2 wickets (giving us 10 bonus runs) to lead us to victory with a final score of 125-96. But the score is not what mattered to us, it was about going out there and having a go and trying our best. All in all, it was an incredible day and we all had a blast.

Our next challenge will be the Southern Metropolitan Region event at Mt Eliza on 19th November, for a place in the state final. Thank you to the boys team for coming and supporting us in the final and thank you Aoife, Stef and Bec for coming and helping out. A massive thank you to Mr Penny for all the training sessions and all his hard work. We all appreciate it. We can’t wait for Regionals!
