Performing Arts

Term 4 2025

Welcome to Performing Arts for Term 4!

Firstly, I cannot express just how proud I am of all the students who took part in our school production of "When I Grow Up"! I know for many students, it was their first time performing on a stage in front of a large audience and they did an amazing job! It was a fantastic performance and I send my heartfelt thanks to all the parents, family and friends who came on the night to support the students!

If you have not yet ordered your copy of the recording, you have until Monday 17th November to order via this link: https://www.stagefrightcp.com.au/product/cheltenham-primary-school/

For the remainder of the term, we will be focusing on instrumental music and composition as well as preparing for the Carols on Thursday 11th December.

Foundation - Musical opposites. Foundation will explore loud and quiet (dynamics), long and short (rhythm), and fast and slow (tempo) using a range of untuned percussion instruments.

Year 1 and 2 - Body percussion. Year 1 and 2 will experiment with different body percussion sounds and patterns to create their own accompaniment to a song, learning about structure and repetition.

3/4 - Drumming around the world. Middle School music will focus on discovering the different types of drums and drum music from around the world. Students will also create their own drumming performance, incorporating rhythmic devices such as call and response.

Year 5 and 6 - STOMP! Year 5 and 6 will take inspiration from the global sensation, STOMP, to create their own compositions using junk percussion and found sounds.

All in all, a term jam-packed with performing!
