Reading is food for the mind and soul.
What a jam-packed term we had in Library in Term 3!
We had the pleasure of acclaimed authors Zanni Louise, Solli Raphael and Jack Henesleit discuss how their ideas were generated and how they crafted their stories. There was also a hugely successful Book Fair, which generated funds to purchase new books for our library. Finally, we had the ‘Children’s Picture Story Book’ for the year awards. Six shortlisted books were read and students voted on which one they thought would win. The eventual winning books for 2025 were:
‘The Wobbly Bike’ written by Darren McCllum and illustrated by Craig Smith (Foundation to Yr. 2) and, ‘The Truck Cat’ written by Deborah Frenkel and illustrated by Danny Snell (Yr. 3-6).
This term, the library has begun an extensive reorganisation to help students locate books more easily. Thank you to everyone who returned books at the end of last term and the beginning of this one. This has helped greatly with knowing how much space we need for each section.
If any additional library books are found at home please pass them on to be processed in the library. They can be identified by a second barcode on the back labelled Cheltenham Primary School.
Foundation
Foundation students are continuing their practice of borrowing books to read at home with their parents. Foundation students exchange their books on Friday and are allowed to borrow 1 book at a time which they take home in their library book bags.
