Kitchen Classroom

Welcome back to the Kitchen Classroom for Term 4.

Week 1 the middle and senior students made apple and cinnamon muffins.  Their task was to peel the apples.  A life skill!  Most students took on the task with confidence. Some had not done it before and now know how to use a vegetable peeler.  Well done!

Week 2 the junior students made banana muffins and learned how to cream the butter and sugar with the whisk.  This made the muffins light and fluffy.

Week 3 the middle and senior students will be creating an old favourite 'Tex Mex Cheesy Pasta'.  We will include the beautiful silver beet from the garden.  Thankyou Denise.

We will continue to make delicious recipes during the term finishing with gingerbread star biscuits which the children will decorate in weeks 9 and 10.

I would like to take this opportunity to inform the Cheltenham Primary School community that I will be hanging my apron up at the end of 2025.

I started in the education department at 17 working for 10 years in the office at Clayton Technical School.  I then returned to the education department in 2004/06 as the business manager at Kingston Heath Primary School.  Then gained the position in the office at Cheltenham Primary School in 2007.  I was lucky enough to apply for the Kitchen Classroom position in 2011until this day.  All up I have been with the department 31 years.

My time teaching in the Kitchen Classroom has been the best career path.  Watching the children grow and develop culinary skills has been outstanding.  My passion for food has brought this out in the children and to see them enjoy recipes and foods from different parts of the world and share with their families at home has been very rewarding.

I would also like to thank my work colleagues past and present, who have supported me over the years and helped me grow in my workplace.  And of course, all of my wonderful parent/grandparent helpers that have volunteered their time to also help in the Kitchen Classroom has been very much appreciated.

Happy Cooking children!
